As every fan of watching things on screens is aware, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has struck, or perhaps stricken, against the Alliance of Motion Picture, Television, and Made-For-Television Motion Picture Producers (AMPTMFTMPP).

As WGA members, we vow not to commit any of our brilliant ideas to the page until the studios capitulate to our demands. We refuse to draw upon our vast creative resources, which include one shared copy of Final Draft software and a vocabulary chock full of words like "capitulate," "chock full," and "lest." Lest America forget what it's missing out on, here’s WHAT WE’RE NOT WRITING today:

"Polly Want A Punchline"

A series for Animal Planet that would have garnered a lot of attention, as one of the world's only sketch comedy shows performed by and for parrots.

I like it! Here's my idea for a reality show. It's called "The REAL Monkeys". It stars ... me! I'm the manager of a rock band. I recruit four chimpanzees to play in the band. Each chimp has a very melodramatic back story. I do my best to teach them to play instruments. We go on tour, playing small rock clubs across the US of A. Backstage, I give the chimps lots of pep talks and raise false hopes that we're going to SXSW, and then we're gonna tour Europe and Japan. Also, there's lots of scenes of the boys flinging their monkey excrement at posters of Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith, Davey Jones, and the other guy. Because those dudes are not the REAL Monkeys. I am pitching the show to MTV and Animal Planet, and hoping to arrange an unprecedented deal where it gets shown on both networks.
